Easter day is over, but the season of Easter is still young. It is longer than Lent - 50 days rather than 40. Maybe that's because while we can think we are prepared for a life-changing event, when it happens it still takes some time to accept and get accustomed to. It takes some time to know how to move on. It is up to us to shape the narrative from here. Do we passively respond to events, or do we actively plan for and participate in our futures?
Imagine if those early disciples had just given up after Jesus' death. If even after Jesus had been raised they thought it was all too much, that they couldn't carry on without him.
Thank God they did not. They gathered together, remembered what Jesus had taught them, remembered that Jesus had promised to be with them. They believed, and stepped out in faith to do what Jesus had asked them to do. To carry on the work of God in this world.
May we have the courage to do likewise.
